Fan Fest Production for Pro and College Teams

Martin Sports Productions is a fan fest production company headquartered in Detroit that designs, fabricates, installs and operates fan fests for NBA, NHL, MLB, AHL, MiLB and NCAA organizations — the producers behind Cincinnati Redsfest, NCAA Bracket Town, the WFAN Yankees Fanfest and the Triple-A All-Star Game fan fest.

What Is a Fan Fest?

A fan fest is a large-scale event where a sports team opens its doors to supporters outside of game day.

Player and alumni access, autograph stages, interactive skills games, memorabilia and team history displays, sponsor activations, food and live entertainment — all inside an environment themed head to toe for the club. Scale runs from a single arena concourse to a multi-day festival filling a convention center.

What separates one from a game is that the event itself is the draw. There is no scoreboard carrying the day. Everything a fan remembers — the walk in, the photo they took, the line they waited in, the player they met — has to be designed, built and staffed on purpose. That is what fan fest production is.

One Team From Floor Plan to Strike

Most fan fests are assembled from vendors: a design firm draws it, a fabricator builds some of it, a labor company installs it, and someone from the team ends up standing in the middle on show day holding it together. Martin Sports does all of it in-house.

Our professionals are trained in technical theatre, scenic design and production touring — disciplines where the show opens on time or it does not open. That background is why our fan fest plans cover the unglamorous parts up front: power, rigging, load-in windows, weather contingencies, crowd flow, ADA access and teardown.

Fan Fest, Fan Zone or Watch Party?

These three get used interchangeably and they are not the same event. The difference decides your budget, your footprint and your build.

Destination Event

Fan Fest

A standalone event outside of game day that fans attend specifically to meet players and experience the team. Largest footprint, longest build, most fabrication. Runs hours to multiple days.

Game Day

Fan Zone

Interactive attractions placed in or around the venue on game day, entertaining fans who already hold tickets. Modular, repeatable across a season, themeable to sponsors. See interactive fan zones.

Broadcast

Watch Party

A communal viewing event for a road or playoff game. The broadcast is the draw; theming, activations and hospitality surround it. Fast to stand up, often on short playoff notice.

Fan Fest Production Questions, Answered

What is a fan fest?

A fan fest is a large-scale event where a sports team opens its doors to supporters outside of game day. A typical fan fest combines player and alumni access, autograph stages, interactive skills games, memorabilia and team history displays, sponsor activations, food and live entertainment inside a fully themed environment. Fan fests range from a single arena concourse to a multi-day festival filling a convention center.

What does a fan fest production company do?

A fan fest production company designs, fabricates and operates the physical event — the floor plan and fan flow, the sets, props, stages and photo ops, the interactive attractions, the branding and signage throughout the space, sponsor activation footprints, installation and load-in, running the event during show hours, and strike afterward. The team's own staff stays focused on players, ticketing and fans rather than on building and running the event.

What is the difference between a fan fest, a fan zone and a watch party?

A fan fest is a destination event in its own right, usually held outside of game day, that fans attend specifically to meet players and experience the team. A fan zone is a set of interactive attractions placed inside or outside a venue on game day, designed to entertain fans who are already attending a game. A watch party is a communal viewing event for a road or playoff game, where the game broadcast is the main attraction and theming, activations and hospitality surround it.

Which fan fests has Martin Sports Productions produced?

Fan fests and team conventions including Cincinnati Redsfest, NCAA Bracket Town at the Final Four, the WFAN Yankees Fanfest, the Triple-A All-Star Game fan fest, Cleveland Cavaliers fan fests and championship celebration, The Notre Dame Experience, the Chicago Blackhawks Convention and the Washington Capitals Convention.

Who handles design, fabrication and operations for a fan fest?

At Martin Sports Productions all three are in-house. The same team that designs the floor plan builds the sets and props, installs them on site and runs the event during show hours. Keeping design, fabrication and operations under one roof means one point of accountability and no gap between what was drawn and what actually gets built.

What goes into a fan fest floor plan?

A fan fest floor plan balances fan flow against dwell time. It sets entry and queue points, positions autograph stages and player access so lines do not cross main traffic, spaces interactive attractions to prevent bottlenecks, places sponsor footprints where they earn real impressions, and routes fans past retail, food and photo ops. It also accounts for power, rigging points, ADA access, load-in doors and emergency egress.

Can a fan fest include sponsor activations?

Yes — and they work better designed in from the start than added afterward. Martin Sports builds sponsor footprints around brand awareness, brand association, brand experience and hospitality, so partners get measurable fan interaction rather than static signage. See sponsorship activation.

What sports do fan fest interactive attractions cover?

Baseball, basketball, hockey, football, soccer, golf and lacrosse — including speed pitch, batting challenges, pop-a-shot and skills courses, slapshot and accuracy challenges, quarterback toss and kicking games, plus photo ops and augmented experiences. Attractions are pre-fabricated and fully themeable to the team, its players and its sponsors. See the full interactive roster.

Does Martin Sports Productions produce fan fests nationwide?

Yes. Martin Sports Productions is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, with a presence in Toledo, Phoenix and New York, and produces fan fests and fan events nationwide — from arena concourses to convention centers to city-wide championship celebrations.
